Kris’s birthday is coming up very soon and I have thought for a long time about what I want to do to celebrate him. Obviously, Kris has/can get anything he wants, when he wants it, so I really feel like I want to do something different this year, rather than buying a gift. I’ve decided that I want to make a difference for other people, in Kris’s honor. What I’ve decided is to make 29 days worth of volunteerism/donation, in honor of Kris’s 29 years. Now, I may not be able to do 232 hours of volunteer work in the 7 weeks until Kris’s 29th birthday so I’ve built in some options for myself in that goal. (Let’s be real, I work 65+ hours a week, so I may have to make financial donations.)

 

Volunteer work with an agency that helps people = 1 day

$29 of donations = 1 day

$29 worth of goods donated to an agency that helps people = 1day

 

I’m aiming for $1000 of good work or monetary donations. I’d love to encourage you to do the same kind of thing. (Obviously I don’t expect people to commit to $1000, that’s crazy, but doing a day of work or a $29 donation would be awesome.)

And I'm going to keep a running list of what happens to keep me on top of things and ready to go.  As of May 3, I'd completed 2 days.  I'm excited about this and am really committed to making my goal.
